So many people who want to learn how to make money on the internet get deceived by slick online “gurus” who convince them that there is some magical formula to finally achieve it. However, in this post I want to dispel this damaging myth and give you a real, step-by-step process for making money through the power of affiliate marketing. Being an affiliate means that you promote someone else’s product(s). When you generate a sale through your affiliate link, you earn a commission.
Step 1 (You Need A Subject)
The first step is to find a subject you are passionate about. It is preferable that it is truly something you are passionate about because this will keep you motivated to put in the hard work required for success. We are all passionate about something, so it really shouldn’t be too hard. For example, I happen to be passionate about internet and network marketing, as well as personal development, which is why I created this blog to talk about these subjects. So, find what you like and decide that you will create a business centered on that subject.
Step 2 (Find The Products)
Your next step is to find affiliate products that are closely related to your topic. If you examine my blog you will notice that the products I feature have to do with “making money online”. Since my blog is about this subject, the odds of visitors being interested in these products will be much better than if the products being featured were not related in any way.
I’m not going to mention specific websites for affiliate programs, but if you go to your favorite browser and do a search you will be able to find plenty of affiliate products you can promote. For example, if you are passionate about weight loss, you would type “weight loss affiliate programs”, or something similar. I’m sure you get the idea.
Step 3 (Have A Website)
The next step is to build a website. If you want to succeed long-term in your internet business, you must have a website. This will allow you to build a brand online and will help multiply your sales. Do not make the mistake that many newbies make of simply promoting generic affiliate pages. You have to promote yourself first and then the product. It is better to promote the products you want to promote through your own website or blog.
I personally recommend a blog over a static website because, with a blog, you will be able to update it frequently, which is something that I am going to get into in the next section of this post. Once you have your website, you will be able to add the products in the form of attractive banners or reviews that you will write recommending the products.
Step 4 (You Need To Add Content)
The next step is to add content to your website or blog. This is a very important step that you cannot ignore. There are so many websites online that fail because there is no new content added. How can you expect people to want to visit your website if there is nothing new to see?
In my opinion, the best thing you can do is create a blog and add content every day. Do you feel that you don’t know what to blog about? Here is a simple solution and the solution I personally use: Learn something new on your subject every day and then write a post about what you learned. You don’t have to write like a genius. People are not looking for perfection. Just be yourself and let your personality shine and people will become attracted to you and your website and eventually buy the products featured on your site.
Step 5 (It’s All About Marketing)
The final step is to promote your website every day. You are never going to make money if you don’t market. If you have money to market, you can create faster results because you can buy traffic to your site. It’s really that simple: The more traffic you get to your website, the more money you will make.
If you don’t have money to market, don’t stress about it. Just use free marketing methods. Sure, it might take you longer, but it is still very achievable. The key is to be consistent when implementing your marketing plan.
As you can see, this isn’t some “magical, push button system”. No, this is a real plan of action that anyone can start implementing to make money on the internet. The question is: Do you want success bad enough and are you willing to take action? How you answer this will determine your future success.
