|Over the last few blog posts, I have been discussing mainly marketing concepts. Today, I want to get back to talking about something that I am deeply passionate about: MINDSET. I am obssessive when it comes to this subject. When I hear people tell me their problems, I quickly want to ask them: what book are you currently reading? You see, I think people drown themselves in their problems and lose touch with reality. They forget that sometimes what they call suffering is not really suffering. Losing your job is not the same degree of suffering as children getting bombed in a foreign country because of an irrational war. Sometimes we lose perspective. I am going to give you a few areas where I believe people go wrong.
The Virus Known As Human Pride
There is a virus that is infecting the human race. Its name is PRIDE. It is an infection that destroys lives. Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of my favorite intellectuals of all times said what is probably my favorite quote of all time: “In my walks, every man I meet is my superior in some way, and in that I learn from him.” Think about that quote for a few seconds. If Ralph Waldo Emerson, one of the greatest intellectuals of all time, had the humility to want to learn from everyone, who are we to let pride stop us from learning from others?
All I Know Is That I Know Nothing
Besides human pride, the next thing that I believe stops people from making progress is thinking that they are too smart and already know everything. I tell you this because, being in the network marketing industry, I run into this issue constantly. One of the greatest philosophers of all time, Socrates, once shared the concept that you need to live your life as though you know nothing. Basically, we need to develop the innocence of children. WE NEED TO HAVE AN OPEN MIND.
We Are Not Our Things
The next thing that stops people from making progress is judging other people only by appearance and how much money they have. This is, in my opinion, a horrible way to go about life. Some of the wisest people I have met are homeless people. Some of the most stubborn and irrational people I have met are people who have some money and social status. They let these things get to their heads and they develop the attitude that they are too good for other people. I want to challenge you to not judge people by appearance or money. Inspect what is in the mind and hearts of people before you judge them.
One Of My Heroes
I want to end this post by telling you about one of my heroes: Nick Vujacic. This is a man that was born with no legs and arms. When I hear people complain I always remember him. He didn’t let his severe limitations stop him in life. He has a wife, two children, and spends his time as a motivational speaker and author. I don’t want to hear people’s excuses. If you are letting your problems stop you, I suggest you look up the videos of Nick and allow him to inspire you. If you are sick and tired of not achieving the kind of life you desire, then I want to CHALLENGE you to click on THIS LINK. God Bless you.
