I have spent the last few years studying human beings and human nature. Along the way, I have picked up many valuable concepts. One of the main reasons why I created this blog is to help others discover quickly what has taken me years of persistent study to discover. I believe that this is how we can create a better world. In my humble opinion, all of us should have a blog where we share with the world what our passions are. Information leads to knowledge, and this leads to a superior world.
The Destructive Power Of Justification
The first concept I want to talk about is the idea of justification. This is a particularly destructive habit of human beings. I love watching debates between individuals of radically opposing viewpoints. Many times, it quickly becomes obvious who is wrong. Do you think these individuals admit they are wrong in real-time for all to witness? No. Instead, they fall victims to justification.
Justification is defending your position even when it becomes clear you are wrong. Justification is driven by human pride. It prevents people from achieving inner and outer growth. Do not let justification destroy your chances of success. It’s ok to be wrong. Instead of justifying our positions, we must accept our mistakes and learn from them to become better individuals.
The Need To Be Right
The next destructive concept that keeps people down is the need to be right. If you have ever seen two people argue you have seen the destructive power of the need to be right. A famous psychologist I have watched in the past likes to asks couples he councils this important question: “Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy?” This is a profound question that will lead to a happy marriage if they choose to answer it correctly.
I discovered a great secret when it comes to this important concept. Always let the other person win. Of course, I am not talking about issues that deal with life or death situations or issues that involve ethical or moral questions. I am referring to trivial issues. You see, usually people don’t get into heated arguments over important issues. So, by letting the other person win, you actually win in the end.
When it comes to building a business, this is a very important concept to master. If you are always arguing with people and demand to be right, you are not going to be a very pleasant person to be around. In the business world, your main objective is to become magnetic, and you are not going to accomplish this if you insist on always being right. So, even when you are right, concede defeat and you will come out on top of any human interaction.
Our goal is to achieve our full potential. Justification and the need to be right are enemies that you must defeat if you are to reach a higher plane of development. It’s going to take discipline and self-awareness, but if you commit to get better in these areas you will make quantum progress and achieve your goals.
